An 80-year-old woman came to a talent show and asked for permission to perform her favorite song, but the host and the judges began laughing at her and tried to force her off the stage. Just a few minutes later, however, something unexpected happened… 

The evening episode of the popular talent show was proceeding as usual. The huge auditorium was packed with spectators, the spotlights illuminated the stage, the host smiled at the cameras, and contestants stepped onto the stage one after another to showcase their talents.

Some danced, some performed magic tricks, and others sang modern songs. The audience applauded, the judges joked around, and the host regularly introduced new contestants.

It seemed that nothing unusual was going to happen.

But at one point, a production assistant unexpectedly handed the host a card with the name of the next participant.

— Please welcome to the stage Evelyn Walters, eighty years old, — the host read aloud, raising her eyebrows in surprise.

Laughter rippled through the audience.

A few seconds later, an elderly woman slowly walked onto the stage with the help of a cane. She moved very carefully, was slightly hunched, and her gray hair was neatly combed back.

The host looked at her in confusion.

— Do you really want to participate in the show?

— Yes, dear, — the elderly woman replied calmly. — I simply want to sing my favorite song.

Someone in the audience laughed again.

One of the judges smirked.

— Ma’am, wouldn’t it be better for you to rest at home? This is a talent competition, after all.

Several audience members joined in the laughter. The elderly woman said nothing. She simply gripped her cane more tightly.

The host tried to end the situation quickly.

— Maybe we shouldn’t take up any more time? We still have many contestants left.
