But standing by the gym’s media closet was Jordan, his hand firmly on the controls, his chin held high.

Elijah didn't stay to gloat. He had completed the mission.
Six months later, the old warehouse on the edge of Milbrook reopened. The flashy neon signs were gone, replaced by a simple, hand-painted wooden board: Marcus Brooks Community Dojo.
Inside, the fluorescent lights had been fixed. The air smelled of fresh rubber and hard work. Jordan Ramirez, now an assistant instructor, was patiently showing a group of young teenagers the proper form for a block.
