"Arrest him," Evelyn commanded, her voice shrill and echoing across the quiet expanse. "He's refusing a lawful order and I want him removed from this property now."

Arthur did not flinch. He didn't raise his hands defensively. The grief that had weighed him down all morning suddenly crystallized into a cold, unbreakable resolve. He looked down at the woman in the ivory suit, his deep-set eyes reflecting a storm of quiet devastation and rising fury.

He leaned forward slightly, his voice a low, gravelly rumble that seemed to rise from the earth itself. "You picked my wife's funeral week to do this."

Evelyn tilted her chin up, a cruel, soulless smirk spreading across her face. She looked at his black suit and saw only weakness. "You're finished, widower."

Arthur turned his piercing gaze to the young deputy, who was nervously looking between the mourning farmer and the furious HOA president. Arthur raised his right hand, tapping the yellow folder against his chest with absolute, chilling certainty.

"Then you better pray those officers read the land records before they take him."
