Silence.
Then someone in the back laughed.
Brenda's face turned red.
"This is absurd."
Rachel opened another folder.
"We also have copies of HOA records indicating that Ms. Whitmore participated in enforcement decisions involving Mr. Holloway while personally being involved in the underlying dispute."
Frank looked down.
Linda looked at the floor.
Rachel continued.
"We also have discrepancies between original and amended meeting minutes."
The room went completely silent.
That was the moment Brenda lost control.
"You people don't know what you're talking about!"
She slammed her hand against the table.
"I built this community!"
A man near the front stood.
"No, you didn't."
Everyone turned.
It was Harold Benton.
He was seventy-one.
He had lived in Pinewood Gardens for twenty-two years.
Brenda stared at him.
Harold continued.
"We did."
Brenda said nothing.
"You don't own this neighborhood."
Harold pointed toward the homeowners.
"None of us do."
He looked at Brenda.

Someone applauded.

The board secretary called for a recess.
