This morning, my sister-in-law received a call from her child’s kindergarten teacher. The teacher informed her that my niece’s hand was swollen and bruised. No one knew how it happened, but she had already arrived at school with the injury. My niece is quite clingy and cries often when being dropped off, so no one realized she was in pain. It wasn’t until lunchtime, when the teacher carried her, that she noticed the two middle fingers on her left hand were badly swollen.
Panicked, my sister-in-law rushed to the school and took her daughter to the hospital. The doctor assured her that it wasn’t serious—probably just a minor injury from getting pinched somewhere. A bit of ointment, and it would heal in a few days.
However, the moment they returned home, my sister-in-law immediately accused my mother of causing the injury.
