đŹ PART 2: «The Heir With the Wolf Ring»
No one in the bar breathed.
The scarred biker stayed on one knee, staring at the ring like it was a ghost that had finally found him.
The little girl stood in front of him without moving, too calm for her age, too certain for this room, like she had carried this moment inside her for years.
The other bikers kept their heads lowered.
Nobody laughed now.
Nobody dared.
The leader swallowed hard and looked at her face again, really looked this time. Something in her eyes. Something in the set of her mouth. Something painfully familiar.
His voice came out rough and broken.
âYour father⊠he hid you.â
The girl said nothing.
He lowered his eyes to the ring again.
âWe thought you died with your mother.â
Her face did not change, but her fingers tightened once at her side.
âHe told me you would lie first,â she said. âThen you would be afraid.â
That shook him.
He looked around the room, but no one came to save him. The men behind him were frozen between loyalty and fear, waiting for a truth none of them wanted spoken aloud.
The girl took one more step closer.
âSay his name.â
The leaderâs jaw trembled.
For the first time, the giant man looked small.
âRoman Wolfe,â he whispered.
The room seemed to fall even quieter at that name.
The girlâs eyes filled for only a second, but she didnât let the tears fall.
âThat was my father,â she said.
The leader bowed his head.
A few of the bikers behind him exchanged shaken looks. One of them quietly dropped to both knees. Then another.
The girlâs voice dropped lower.
âHe didnât lose the club,â she said. âHe was betrayed.â
The leader squeezed his eyes shut.
That was answer enough.
But she wanted more.
âWho?â
He opened his mouth, then stopped. Fear climbed up his throat so visibly it made the room feel colder.
The girlâs stare never wavered.
âWho killed him?â
The leader finally looked past her.
Not at the door.
Not at the men.
At someone deeper in the room.
Someone off to the side.
His lips parted.
The girl followed his eyes.
And whatever she saw there made her face go still in a completely different way.
Not fear.
Recognition.
Because the person standing in the shadows was already wearing the other wolf ring.
