Russia signals openness to long-term energy cooperation with European partners

Russia says it is open to stable, long-term energy partnerships with Europe

On March 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that Russia remains open to cooperation with European partners in the energy sector, provided that the relationship is built on a stable and sustainable foundation, free from short-term political influences.

Speaking at a meeting on the global oil and gas market, President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is ready to continue working with European clients in supplying hydrocarbons, as long as all parties ensure long-term, stable cooperation that is not driven by political calculations.

The Russian leader emphasized that Russia has never refused cooperation with European partners. However, Russia needs clear signals showing that businesses and countries involved genuinely seek to build sustainable, mutually beneficial relationships.

President Vladimir Putin added that the Russian government is closely monitoring the issue, considering it a key aspect of governance to ensure national interests and the stability of the global energy market.
