Maya didn't celebrate. She didn't even pause to watch him fall. The moment Marcus hit the mat, she transitioned seamlessly, keeping tight control of his sleeve and dropping her knee heavily onto his floating ribs—the dreaded knee-on-belly position. The pressure was localized, agonizing, and pinning him entirely to the floor.
Chapter 6: The Dismantling
Marcus gasped for air, panic setting in. He was a purple belt; he wasn't supposed to be manhandled like this, let alone by a girl half his size wearing a brand new white belt. Rage overtook his technique. He tried to bench-press her off him, wildly shoving at her chest.
"Never bench press in Jiu-Jitsu," Coach Silva murmured to himself, almost pitying the man.
Maya moved like a ghost. As Marcus extended his arms, she trapped his right arm against her chest, pivoted on her knee, and swung her left leg entirely over his head. She fell back, pinching her knees tightly together, isolating his arm perfectly between her thighs.
She had him in a flawlessly executed armbar.
She didn't crank it. She didn't try to hurt him, though she easily could have hyperextended his elbow into a devastating snap in a fraction of a second. Instead, she held it at the exact point of absolute tension. One millimeter more, and his joint would pop.
Marcus gritted his teeth, his face turning purple. He tried to hitchhiker out, tried to stack her, tried everything in his strength-based arsenal. But Maya’s hips were heavy, her angles were microscopic and absolute. She adjusted to every micro-movement he made, shutting down his escapes before they even began.
She looked down at him calmly, her glasses having slipped slightly down her nose. "You should tap," she said quietly.
Marcus groaned, his ego shattered into a million pieces. His hand slapped the mat frantically. Tap. Tap. Tap.
Maya immediately released the hold, rolling backward and coming gracefully to her feet. She bowed to him slightly, a sign of respect.
The timer on the wall still showed three minutes and forty seconds left in the round. The match had lasted barely a minute and a half.
The entire gym was staring. Every single pair of eyes was glued to the center of the mat. Nobody was rolling anymore. The silence was deafening.
Marcus sat up, cradling his elbow, his chest heaving. He looked completely bewildered, like a man who had just been hit by a silent train.
Leo and Jax were frozen, their faces pale. The arrogant smirks had vanished, replaced by an expression of pure, unadulterated awe and fear.
"You..." Marcus breathed heavily. "You're not a white belt."
Maya reached up and pushed her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. "I am in Jiu-Jitsu. Mostly."
Coach Silva stepped onto the mat, his hands clapping slowly. The sound echoed loudly in the quiet gym.
"Beautiful," Silva said, a beaming smile on his face. He walked over to Maya and put a heavy hand on her shoulder. "Absolutely beautiful. Class, gather around."
The students quickly formed a circle around the center of the mat, maintaining a respectful distance from the small woman who had just defied the laws of physics.
