Not three.
The footage had been edited.
He pointed.
"That's fake."
Richard smiled.
"That's a serious accusation."
"So is accusing me of stealing."
Security moved closer.
Michael looked at him.
"I didn't take anything."
Richard called Arthur.
But before Arthur arrived, Lily appeared in the doorway.
"Daddy?"
Michael turned.
"Sweetheart, why are you here?"
She had tears in her eyes.
Richard looked at her.
Then smiled.
That smile made Michael realize something.
This wasn't about the pastries.
They were targeting his weakness.
His daughter.
Michael stepped in front of Lily.
"Don't."
Richard's smile disappeared.
Arthur arrived seconds later.
"What happened?"
Richard immediately started explaining.
But Arthur didn't listen.
He looked at Michael.
"Did you steal anything?"
"No."
Arthur nodded.
Then looked at the footage.
He watched it once.
Twice.
Then a third time.
"Richard."
"Yes, sir?"
"Where's the original?"
Richard froze.
"What?"
"The original security file."
Richard swallowed.
"This is the original."
Arthur shook his head.
"No."
He pointed at the screen.
"The timestamp jumps eleven seconds."
Silence.
Arthur turned toward security.
"Get the server."
Richard stepped backward.
Arthur looked at him.
"Now."
The original footage showed something completely different.
Michael carried one box of bread.
Then Richard entered.
He carried three boxes of pastries.
He placed them into his car.
Michael had never touched them.
The room became silent.
Richard's face went pale.
Arthur looked at him.
"Explain."
Richard said nothing.
Arthur continued.
"How long?"
Richard finally broke.
"Four years."
"How much?"
"I don't know."
"How much?"
Richard lowered his head.
"Four hundred and twenty thousand."
Michael stared.
Arthur closed his eyes.
He wasn't angry.
He was disappointed.
