It explained everything.

The road was private.

No HOA access existed.

No easement existed.

Continued unauthorized use would be considered trespass.

I intended to install access control if the traffic continued.

The letter included the survey, deed reference, and county confirmation.

Karen signed for it.

The receipt came back.

The next morning, her SUV drove through my property again.

This time she slowed beside the second sign.

She turned her head toward my house.

Then she continued.

That small movement told me everything.

She wasn't confused.

She was daring me.

A few days later, Rachel suggested I attend an Aspen Hollow HOA meeting.

I didn't live there, but the agenda included something called:

Briar Creek Access Concerns

The clubhouse looked exactly like an HOA clubhouse should.

Fake stone fireplace.

Overstuffed chairs.

Bulletin boards filled with rules disguised as announcements.

Karen sat at the front wearing a cream blazer and the expression of someone accustomed to being obeyed.

When my turn came, I stood.

“My name is Ethan Carter. I own the private road some residents have been using off Briar Creek Road.”

The room became quiet.

Karen leaned toward the microphone.

“Mr. Carter, as a nonresident, your comments need to stay brief.”

“They will.”

I held up my survey.

“The road is private property.”

Then the county letter.

“No HOA access is recorded.”

Then Rachel's notice.

“The HOA has been informed.”

A man in the second row frowned.

“Wait. We don't have access?”

Karen immediately interrupted.

“The matter is under review.”

I looked at the man.

“You do not have access through my property.”

Karen's expression hardened.

“That is your position.”
