you want."

The desperation was thick and

pathetic. The man who had been so

eager to humiliate her just five

minutes ago was now a sniveling

wreck, begging for mercy.

Eleanor looked at him, her

expression softening just a fraction,

not with forgiveness, but with

profound pity. "You have already

made your apologies, Julian, and

they mean nothing. You are only

sorry because of who I am, not

because of what you did. If I truly

had been a poor woman seeking

shelter from the cold, you would

have thrown me onto the street

without a second thought."

She turned her head slightly to

address the burly security guard.

"Marcus, please call David. Tell him

Eleanor is here, and tell him his

general manager’s position is

officially vacant."

"Right away, Mrs. Sterling,"

Marcus said eagerly, rushing off to

the back offices.

Julian let out a choked sob. "You...

you're firing me?"

"I am not your employer,"

Eleanor replied evenly. "But I have

David's full authority regarding this

lease. And as of this moment, I

refuse to allow my property to be

managed by a man who lacks basic

human decency. So yes, Julian. The

decision has been made. It is your

turn to leave. Immediately."

She threw his own words back at

him, perfectly mirrored, perfectly

executed. The poetic justice hung

heavily in the air.

Julian opened his mouth to argue,

but the fiery look returning to

Eleanor's eyes silenced him.

Defeated, utterly humiliated in front

of the very society he worshipped,

he turned and slowly walked out the

glass doors, disappearing into the

cold, dark night.

Eleanor turned toward the dining

room. The patrons were completely

silent, watching her with a

newfound reverence.

"I apologize for the disruption to

your evening," she said, her voice

warm and clear. "Please, enjoy your

meals. And remember..." She paused,

her gaze sweeping over the glittering

jewels and expensive suits. "True

dignity is not found in the label on

your collar. Respect should never

depend on someone’s clothing,

appearance, or perceived financial

status. Every person, from the

moment they walk through a door,

deserves basic human courtesy."

She smiled warmly at Clara, the

young hostess, who was still

standing by the podium. "Now, my

dear," Eleanor said softly, adjusting

her worn leather satchel. "I believe I

have a table waiting for me in the

back. Would you be so kind as to

show me the way?"

And with that, the woman in the

faded gray coat walked through the

sea of wealth, the undeniable queen

of the room, leaving behind a lesson

that L’Étoile d’Or would never forget.
