“Easy Money,” a Black Belt Laughed at a Single Dad — Then the Dad Stepped Forward Wearing His Daughter’s Bracelet
Chapter 7
Arthur dumped Marcus onto the canvas. The
black belt lay there, clutching his ribs, gasping
for air, tears of pain and humiliation streaming
down his face. He was broken, utterly defeated in
less than ten seconds of actual combat.
The arena was in absolute shock. The
transition from the calm, evasive father to this
terrifying avatar of destruction was
incomprehensible. Nobody cheered. They were
too stunned, too afraid to make a sound.
Arthur stood over Marcus, his breathing
completely normal, his posture relaxed once
again. He looked down at the whimpering man,
the anger having dissipated as quickly as it had
arrived.
"It wasn't the bracelet that made me strong,"
Arthur said quietly, ensuring only Marcus could
hear. "It was what the bracelet meant. You broke
it. But you can't break why I'm here."
Arthur turned away from the fallen fighter.
He knelt on the canvas, ignoring the referee,
ignoring the crowd, and began to pick up the
scattered plastic beads. One by one, he collected
them, his large, rough hands handling the cheap
plastic with infinite care. He placed them gently
into the pocket of his jeans.
He found every single one.
Only then did he stand up and look at the
referee, who was staring at him with wide,
terrified eyes.
Chapter 7: The Prize and the
Promise
The announcement finally broke the spell.
The crowd erupted into a deafening roar, a
chaotic mix of cheers, screams, and utter
disbelief. They had witnessed something
legendary. The unassuming single dad had
demolished the invincible champion.
The promoter, looking pale but recognizing a
promotional goldmine when he saw one,
scrambled into the ring, clutching the acrylic box
of money. He shoved a microphone in Arthur's
face.
"Who are you?" the promoter demanded.
"Where did you learn to fight like that? Are you a
pro?"
Arthur pushed the microphone aside. "I'm a
father," he said simply. He took the box of cash
from the promoter's trembling hands. Ten
thousand dollars. It felt heavy. It felt like
salvation.
of their small apartment, Arthur Pendelton
finally felt like he could breathe.
The magic was real. It wasn't in the beads, or
the fighting, or the money. It was in the fierce,
unyielding love of a father for his daughter, a
power capable of conquering any giant, crossing
any divide, and healing any wound.
