The motion passed unanimously.

Even Brenda's supporters refused to vote against transparency.

The next morning, she started moving boxes.

That was when Detective Reynolds called.

“We found something.”

“What?”

“Large withdrawals.”

“How large?”

“She attempted to move nearly the entire HOA reserve.”

My stomach tightened.

“How much?”

“Approximately $63,000.”

“Where?”

“An account described as emergency legal expenses.”

“Did the transfer go through?”

“No.”

“The bank froze it.”

For the first time, Brenda's behavior wasn't merely aggressive.

It was desperate.

The Arrest

Monday morning arrived quietly.

Too quietly.

At 8:45, I entered the community center.

Brenda had already filled the room.

The projector showed my fuel system.

She stood at the front like a prosecutor.

“Today,” she announced, “we finally resolve the danger threatening Willowbrook.”

She pointed at me.

“Mr. Kellerman has repeatedly refused reasonable safety requirements.”

I sat silently.

“He has abused city resources.”

Still silent.

“He has created a hostile environment.”

She raised a document.

“Therefore, I move that Marcus Kellerman be expelled from all Willowbrook HOA rights and privileges.”

Then the back doors opened.

Detective Reynolds entered.

Behind him came two investigators and a state prosecutor.

The room fell silent.

“Brenda Ashworth?”

Her face went pale.

“Yes?”

“You are under arrest in connection with suspected embezzlement, financial fraud, false reporting, and conspiracy-related offenses.”

Gasps filled the room.

Brenda looked around.

Then at me.

“You did this.”

I shook my head.

“No.”

“You destroyed my life!”

“No.”

“You investigated me!”

“No.”

I pointed toward Reynolds.

“They investigated the records.”

Reynolds addressed the residents.

“This investigation concerns HOA funds allegedly routed through undisclosed family-connected businesses. The documented amount currently exceeds fifty thousand dollars.”

Brenda stared at me.

I stood.

“For months, you demanded that I remove my fuel pump.”

She said nothing.

“You filed complaints against me.”

Nothing.

“You hired investigators to find something you could use against me.”
