Minutes ticked by in heavy, suffocating silence. Richard sat back with a smug, victorious grin. Maya did not flinch. She did not pack away her book. She simply sat, her posture perfect, waiting for the inevitable escalation.

Soon, heavy footsteps echoed down the jet bridge. Three burly airport security officers, clad in neon vests and heavy duty belts, stepped onto the plane. Susan immediately pointed at Maya. "That's her. She's refusing crew instructions and causing a disturbance."

The lead security officer, a stern-looking man, approached Seat 2A. "Ma'am, you need to stand up and come with us. If you refuse, we will physically remove you from the aircraft."

He reached out, his large hand moving to grasp her shoulder to force her up.

Maya’s voice cut through the air like a whip—sharp, authoritative, and utterly devoid of fear. "Don't touch me. You'll wish you hadn't."

The officer paused, his hand hovering inches from her cashmere sweater, startled by the sheer command in her voice.
