Maya slowly reached into her leather tote. The officers tensed, but she simply pulled out a sleek, black corporate identification card. It bore the airline's golden logo, her photograph, and her title in bold white lettering. She handed it to the lead officer.

"My name is Maya Washington. I am the Executive Vice President of Operations and Customer Experience for this airline. I am your boss's boss," she stated clearly. "I am on this flight conducting a blind audit of our customer service standards. And so far, you are all failing spectacularly."

The blood drained from the security officer's face. He looked at the badge, then up at Maya, and took three rapid steps backward. Susan, the flight attendant, let out a small, horrified gasp. Richard’s smug smile vanished, replaced by an expression of pure, unadulterated shock.

"Officer," Maya continued, turning her gaze to the security team. "I am a ticketed passenger in my assigned seat. The only unruly passenger on this aircraft is the man sitting in 2C, who has harassed me and disrupted the boarding process. If anyone is being escorted off my plane today, it is him."

The shift in power was instantaneous. The lead officer turned to Richard. "Sir, grab your bags. You need to come with us."
