Daniel's eyes filled with tears.

“She was taken two nights ago.”

“Taken where?”

“I don't know.”

“But she's alive?”

Daniel hesitated.

“I hope so.”

Stone's phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

“Stone speaking.”

A distorted voice said:

“You have something that belongs to us.”

Stone looked toward the door.

“Who is this?”

“You know.”

“What do you want?”

“The girl.”

Stone's expression hardened.

“No.”

“You don't understand.”

“Oh, I understand perfectly.”

The voice became colder.

“If you involve the police, she dies.”

Stone looked at Daniel.

Then at the photograph.

“You made one mistake.”

“What?”

“You thought we were six bikers sitting in a diner.”

Silence.

Stone looked through the window.

Outside, motorcycles stretched across the road.

“One hundred and forty-seven riders are standing outside.”
