He arrived with his older sister.

Henry recognized the look immediately.
He walked from behind the counter.
“What's your name?”
“Marcus.”
“I'm Henry.”
“I know.”
Henry smiled.
“You've been here before?”
“No.”
Marcus looked down.
“My mom said we could come.”
Henry nodded.
“Good.”
The boy looked surprised.
“That's it?”
“What?”
“You're not going to ask when we pay?”
Henry shook his head.
“Not today.”
Marcus looked toward the shelves.
“Can we really take food?”
“Yes.”
“How much?”
“Enough.”
Marcus stared at him.
“Really?”
Henry smiled.
“Really.”
Caleb stood near the doorway watching.
He understood why Henry had called him.
He wasn't needed.

“You saw yourself.”
Henry nodded.
“In him.”
“Yes.”
“What did you feel?”
Henry thought about it.

“Why?”
“Because Marcus walked through that door.”

Caleb nodded.

Two years after the fire, Henry's health began to decline.
He didn't tell anyone.
