Evelyn was not the HOA President, but she acted as its most aggressive enforcer. She hated the fact that Sarah had moved into the neighborhood. Sarah was quiet, independent, and completely ignored Evelyn’s unsolicited demands regarding lawn maintenance and trash can placement. To Evelyn, Sarah’s quiet confidence was a direct threat to the suburban hierarchy.

As Evelyn watched Sarah pull the heavy white box from the SUV, her eyes narrowed. She saw the bold black letters: OFFICIAL RECORD. VA. FILES.

In Evelyn’s paranoid, entitlement-fueled mind, an unauthorized resident was bringing something dangerous—something federal and secretive—into her pristine community. She didn't see a neighbor coming home from work; she saw a rogue element attempting to smuggle classified contraband into Oakridge. Gripping her smartphone in her left hand like a weapon, Evelyn marched across the asphalt, her black pumps clicking aggressively against the pavement, completely ready to initiate a confrontation.

Sarah had barely taken two steps away from the bumper of her SUV when Evelyn suddenly blocked her path. The older woman stepped squarely onto the edge of Sarah's private driveway, radiating a hostile, chaotic energy.

Evelyn lunged forward slightly, her face contorting into a mask of pure indignation. She threw her right arm out, her index finger pointing violently, just inches from Sarah’s face.

"Put that box down right now," Evelyn commanded, her voice shrill and echoing loudly down the quiet, idyllic street. She gestured aggressively toward the white cardboard box in Sarah’s hands. "You do not bring federal files into this neighborhood like you own the place."
