Woman Pours Drink On Black Man At Bar—Froze When He Said “You Just Cost Your Company $100M”
Chapter 2
Elena leaned over the mahogany bar, her voice tight. "Ma’am, maybe we should—"
"Don't," Vanessa snapped, pointing a manicured finger at the bartender. "This is exactly the problem. People like him think they can buy one overpriced drink and suddenly they’re part of our world."
She reached out. Her movements were sharp, driven by blind entitlement. Before Malcolm could shift his arm, Vanessa grabbed his heavy tumbler.
The room held its collective breath. Without a single second of hesitation, Vanessa tilted the crystal glass and poured the two-hundred-dollar whiskey slowly, deliberately, over Malcolm’s head
The amber liquid ran down Malcolm’s face in slow, humiliating rivulets. It soaked into his dark hair, matting it to his forehead, and stained the shoulders of his understated polo shirt. Droplets splashed violently onto his financial documents, blurring the ink. The sharp, heavy scent of aged alcohol instantly filled the air.
Gasps echoed through the shadowy corners of the bar. Within seconds, phone cameras emerged like drawn weapons from the surrounding booths, recording every agonizing frame of the humiliation.
"There," Vanessa said, a sickening look of satisfaction washing over her features. "Now, maybe security can take out the trash where it belongs."
Two security guards in tailored black suits approached Malcolm’s seat. Their faces were tight with extreme discomfort, but their posture was determined. They worked for the Halbergs.
Malcolm stood up. His movements were slow, smooth, and perfectly controlled—almost ceremonial. Whiskey dripped steadily from his chin onto the marble floor. He reached out, pulled a clean cloth napkin from the bar, and wiped his face with methodical precision. The room waited in absolute, suffocating silence.
Malcolm looked directly into Vanessa’s triumphant eyes. When he spoke, his voice was quiet, yet it carried an acoustic weight that reached every corner of the silent room.
"Interesting timing," he said smoothly. "I just pulled my one-hundred-million-dollar position from your company ten minutes ago."
The silence stretched, pulling taut like a wire about to snap. Vanessa’s triumphant smile flickered, then died entirely. "What?"
A businessman at a nearby table suddenly stood up, knocking his chair back. "Wait a minute. Are you Malcolm Reed?"
Another voice echoed from the shadows. "Reed. Reed Capital... That's Malcolm Reed."
The whispered recognition spread through the Iron Lantern like a wildfire in a dry forest. Faces turned ash-pale. The two security guards immediately stopped moving, their hands dropping limply to their sides.
Vanessa’s face went chalk-white as the catastrophic implications crashed over her.
Malcolm dropped the damp napkin onto the bar. He picked up his ruined folder and stepped past her, walking out into the cold Chicago rain. His bourbon-soaked shirt clung to his broad shoulders. The city’s neon lights reflected off the wet pavement in smears of red and blue as he walked away, leaving absolute chaos in his wake.
Behind him, Elena’s voice cut through the rising panic of the lobby. She turned fiercely on the security guards.
"You stood there and watched her humiliate that man," Elena said, her face flushed with raw anger. "You were ready to throw him out for absolutely nothing."
The taller guard shrugged, avoiding her eyes. "Ms. Halberg is family, Elena. We follow orders."
"That’s disgusting," she shot back.
"Look, lady," the second guard interrupted, his tone defensive. "We don’t get paid to judge the boss’s daughter. We get paid to keep the peace."
