"Take all the pictures you want, old man!" Eleanor called out over the roar of the diesel engine. "It's gone! And you'll be getting the bill for the cleanup!"

Arthur paused. He looked at the screen on his camera. He counted the images. Exactly twenty-one photographs. They documented everything: the machinery, the operator, the supervisor, the destruction, the property lines, and the environmental impact on the creek.

He lowered the camera, looked Eleanor dead in the eye, and gave her a polite, almost pitying nod. Then, without a single word of protest, Arthur turned around and walked slowly back up the hill toward his farmhouse.
